Konsthall C Presents MESSIAH, the penultimate exhibition in the Sacred Spaces artistic program, which engages practices that address questions of religion and society.

Exhibition Title: MESSIAH
Artist: Clara Ianni
Date: October 2nd - November 15th, 2026
Place: Konsthall C

Brazilian artist Clara Ianni's presents MESSIAH, a newly commissioned exhibition at Konsthall C. In this exhibition, Ianni reflects on the discovery of oil in Brazil in 2006. The artworks presented draw on religious allegory to illustrate the economic, political, and ecological implications resulting from the extraction of the Pre-Salt Layer oil basin. Ianni invokes the symbol of the messiah, or savior, to describe the effect of oil discovery, which provided an economic promise that could "save" the country. Instead, Brazil underwent an era of instability and tumult, including US-led foreign intervention and a coup d'etat, followed by economic collapse, austerity measures, and environmental destruction. These events led to an almost-apocalyptic exhaustion of society.

This exhibition features a sound piece, film work, and photogravure prints.
